New Viper video devices require activation for some use cases. This guide demonstrates how to activate Viper devices using the Viper IP manager tool.
Before you begin: a Windows PC/laptop is required.

Add IP cameras via PoE switch

PTZ: Setup Smart Tracking

 

1. With PTZ camera connected to PoE port of NVR, connect laptop to the same router wifi or via LAN cable. If no router in use, connect laptop direct to LAN port on NVR.

2. Open Microsoft Edge and login into the NVR using its IP address (Found under Network settings > TCP/IP on NVR).

3. Once logged into NVR, browse to Function Panel > Camera:

4. Click on the “Settings” cog at the camera

5. Login into the camera (Default login: User: Admin  Password:123456)

 

 

6. Select PTZ function

 

7. Move camera to desired position using direction controls.

 

8. Click create and then give preset a name:

9. Under “Event” select Region intrusion.

 

10. Click “Area” and create an area intrusion on the camera image:

 

11. Select “Smart Tracking” under Event

 

 

12. Set tracking mode to “PTZ Tracking Priority”. This will save automatically.

The camera will now track humans who cross the intrusion area.

 

 

Adding a camera Via PoE Switch

1. Connect RJ45 from Lan port of NVR to switch and from camera to switch (example below)

 

2. Connect laptop to same switch via LAN cable, right click the network icon and select Network settings.

 

3. Select change adaptor options.

4. Right click ethernet and click properties

5. Select IPV4 and Properties

 

6. Select use following IP and input the following. Click ok and then close on previous window.

7. download and install the Viper config tool https://support.qvis.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/360002316938-Viper-Camera-Configuration-Tool-

 

8. Open the software and locate the camera (will be 192.168.226.201 by default). Select Batch Set Net, (ensure obtain automatically is selected) enter 123456 in “Pwd” box and click Batch Set.

(Should show success once IP has changed)

9. Login to NVR, go to Settings > Camera and Add camera. The NVR will find the camera with a 192.168.X.X address.

 

 

 

 

 

 

IP Camera Reset

Initial Device Set-Up

1. Connect camera and laptop to the same switch

2. Open the Viper camera config tool.

You will see any device picked up by the software:

 

 

 

3. Select the camera (which will show preview and Mac address on the right). Re-enter the Mac in the box underneath and click restore.

4. Click “OK” on the prompt

 

Device is now reset

LPR (License Plate Recognition)

1. Login to recorder, go to Settings > AI Event > LPR and select LPR camera from drop down.

2. Click "Area" in top tab and draw area on the camera image as to where the vehicles will drive through. Then add detection area for the section the license plates will pass through..

You can also adjust the "License Plate Exposure" bar for when the environment is too like or dark.

Once set and registering number plates, the results will be found under "Intelligent Analytics"

 

IP PTZ

Preset

  1. With PTZ connected to PoE port on back of Viper NVR, login to NVR and browse to settings and PTZ (under camera menu)
  2. Using the directional buttons, set the first preset position.
  3. Click “Add” enter a preset name and number on the pop up window and click ok.

Cruise

When multiple presets have been saved, you can instruct the camera to cruise between presets in any order/speed.

 

Under the PTZ menu, select “cruise”. Select the drop drown list at top right and click “+” symbol to add a cruise.

  1. Name the cruise and select “Add preset”, a pop-up window will appear, you can choose:
  2. Preset name
  3. Duration camera stays on each preset
  4. Speed it leaves the preset at.

Once chosen click add at the bottom.

  1. With presets and cruise saved, click the play icon to start the cruise (and stop when you wish to stop it)

A task can be created to schedule a Preset, Cruise or Scan for a chosen time in the day.
